"To Succeed in life you need a wishbone, a backbone, and a funny bone." ~ +Reba McEntire I say, you need all of these and a hobby...or two.
This is my first post, my first blog, so bear with me kids.
Everyone has their side hobbies, but not everyone realizes that these hobbies can become an outlet for everyday hiccups. I find that creating-painting, sanding, building, etc, became my own sort of meditation...Thank God! I really did not want to learn to sit still for an hour and channel my own thoughts! There are way too many of them! Anyways, let's get started, shall we?
I moved to Arizona from Los Angeles last month and every time I move, I must recreate myself in a sense. One of my missions this move, was to Pinterest my way through creating a new room - a new me! However, I had no interest in spending a fortune in doing so!
Project #1: Refurbishing Frames I Already Had!
My frames were cheap and modern style black. I wanted a beach meets country antique chic look in greys and whites.
Step 1:Sand all frames
Note: If you want that chalkboard look that's so popular right now, simply sand your frames - no need for paint!
Step 2: Buy Paint
Go to +Lowe's Home Improvement and/or +The Home Depot and ask for their returned paint selection. They have slightly used paint from a whopping $1.00 to $7.00! If you just need a little bit of paint, +michaelsartsandcrafts has a lot of small paint for .89 or .99 cents.
Step 3: Paint!
Throw on some music, preferably +Country Music, and rock out, dance, laugh, and forget about any yuckiness in your life or in your day!
P.S. I'm kidding about the country. It's my choice, but I'm not trying to tell you how to live so un-scrunch your face and un-furl the lip you just directed towards me, turn on your choice of music, and let loose!
Step 4: "Antique Look"
If you want to go for the incredible "antique look," use a paint brush with bristles that are rough and worn down. Lightly dip it in either black or brown paint. Use a scratch paper to make a few streaks and take away extra paint, then do the same to the edges of the frame. After you get the hang of it, do it sporadically throughout the front and sides.
Whoala! You did it! Don't forget to smile through it all!
P.S. Thank you +Reba McEntire for a phenomenal quote!
